UKRAINE WAR 2022
UKRAINE WAR 2022
In February 2022, Russia invaded Ukraine, the result of an escalation of the Russo-Ukrainian War that began in 2014, when Russia invaded and annexed Crimea, and Russian-backed separatists seized part of the Donbas region of south-eastern Ukraine.
The invasion in 2022 caused Europe’s largest refugee crisis since World War II, with more than 6.3 million Ukrainians fleeing the country, a third of the Ukrainian population displaced and large shortages in food, temporary shelter and sleeping facility and goods for personal care.
In the earliest days of the conflict in Ukraine, Alpinter immediately mobilised relief aid items from our facilities in Belgium and Bulgaria. Items such as tents, hygiene parcels, field cots, sleeping bags and blankets were on their way to Ukraine and bordering countries within days of the conflict beginning in earnest.
When writing this case study, the conflict has been going on for 6 months. In this period, Alpinter has coordinated the delivery of more than 1,000 truckloads of relief items to Ukraine and surrounding countries on behalf of UN and Red Cross agencies, other international organisations and governments, covering more than:
780,000 Hygiene Kits | 411,000 Jerrycans |
375,000 Mattresses | 520,000 Body Towels |
367,000 Pillows | 180,000 Bed Linen Sets |
359,000 Quilts | 65,000 Diapers |
300,000 Blankets | 30,000 Field Cots |
Alpinter is continuing to produce and deliver desperately needed relief aid items as the conflict continues to evolve, combining our global manufacturing facilities and European warehouses to ensure rapid delivery to where goods are needed. From production to warehousing and logistics, Alpinter is engineered for the unexpected.
