Alpinter Assists with Response to Typhoon Rai in The Philippines

Typhoon Rai (known locally as Typhoon Odette) has devastated parts of central and southern Philippines. Since making landfall December 15th, the number of people affected continues to rise, with over 1.8 million people now in need, more than 600,000 displaced in cramped and damp evacuation camps, and almost 375 casualties. Heavy rains caused floods and storm surges that reached up to 6 ft in some areas, with landslides blocking major roads and destroying critical infrastructure such as hospitals and airports.

Alpinter has been coordinating with a range of partners in the region, to assist with shelter and other relief supplies from our warehouses in Europe and Asia. Alpinter RED Family Tents are already on the ground via our partner SOS Attitude, with additional support arriving in the coming days in the form of shelter tool kits and tarpaulins via other partners working in the region.

We are proud to be supporting organisations that provide immediate assistance in natural disasters such as these, and hope that the rapid logistical support we have provided helps to get those affected by Typhoon Rai sheltered and on the road to recovery. Even at Christmas, Alpinter and our partners are ready for the unexpected.
