Nepal 2015

In April 2015, a magnitude 7.8 earthquake struck Nepal, topping multi story buildings the capital of Kathmandu and triggering landslides and avalanches in the surrounding regions of the Himalayas.

Hundreds of thousands of people were immediately homeless; entire villages were razed. Our permanent strategic stocks in Belgium, UAE, China and Pakistan allowed us to immediately airlift much needed core relief items directly to affected areas.

With the local infrastructure severely damaged, it had proven very difficult to distribute the standard family tents. However, due to its light weight (28 kg) and compact packing, the Alpinter RED Tent proved to be an efficient alternative, which finished up being extensively deployed throughout the mountainous region.
