At least seven people are known to have died in a magnitude 6.4 earthquake that struck central Croatia on the 29th December, 2020. The towns of Petrinja and Glina sustained widespread and severe damage, and with frigid winter temperatures setting in the need for shelter was urgent.

Natural disasters don’t stop for the holidays, and neither does Alpinter. Our partner organisation Centre de Crise et de Soutien (a division of the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs) rapidly mobilised to provide desperately needed shelter for those displaced by the earthquake, and on New Years Eve our team was loading Alpinter RED Tents for direct dispatch to Croatia. The truck travelled non stop throughout the night, and delivered the tents to Croatia on January 1st – providing much needed shelter for displaced individuals to begin the new year.
