PAKISTAN FLOODINGS 2022
Context
Between June and October 2022, Pakistan experienced one of the most devastating natural disasters in its history. Unprecedented monsoon rains—up to ten times heavier than average—caused catastrophic flooding across large parts of the country. While Pakistan regularly faces monsoon seasons, the scale and severity of this particular event were extreme, with growing scientific consensus suggesting a direct link to the accelerating effects of climate change.
A Crisis of Unimaginable Scale
The impact was staggering: more than 33 million people—roughly 15% of the country’s population—were affected. At the peak of the crisis, approximately 10% of Pakistan’s land area was underwater. Entire communities were displaced as floodwaters destroyed homes, public infrastructure, schools, and essential health facilities. The humanitarian need was immediate and immense.
Alpinter's Emergency Response
In the wake of this large-scale disaster, Alpinter mobilised rapidly to deliver critical relief supplies. Thanks to our strategically located stock in Karachi, we were able to act swiftly to support international aid organisations responding on the ground. Our proximity to the affected regions allowed for fast, efficient deployment of high-quality humanitarian relief items.
To date, Alpinter has supplied over 150,000 thermal blankets to protect vulnerable populations from exposure, alongside more than 7,000 Family Tents designed to offer safe and dignified temporary shelter. Additionally, we have delivered over 900 Multipurpose Tents, which have been adapted as field hospitals, classrooms, and community centers, providing essential services in the absence of functioning infrastructure.
