EARTHQUAKES ETHIOPIA

23 JANUARY 2024

A series of earthquakes have recently impacted Ethiopia, including a magnitude 5.8 quake on January 4, 2025, near Abomsa in the Afar region, and a magnitude 5.1 quake on January 7, 2025, near Metehara in Oromiya.

These seismic activities have caused significant damage, displacing thousands and prompting evacuations in affected areas. In response, Alpinter is collaborating with NGOs active in the region to provide essential relief supplies.

Alpinter currently is dispatching 60 RED tents and 600 High Thermal Fleece blankets by air to Addis Ababa. These supplies will be distributed in the field via IOM Ethiopia to ensure timely support to those in need. Our RED tents are designed for rapid deployment and durability in challenging conditions, while the high thermal fleece blankets provide crucial warmth and comfort for affected families.
