Product Innovation: Alpinter’s 100% Recycled Humanitarian Blanket

In times of emergency, blankets play a vital role as one of the essential relief aid items provided by global NGOs to assist affected populations. Blankets offer crucial insulation and protection against the loss of body heat in adverse weather conditions.

Alpinter recently produced and supplied more than 200,000 fleece blankets made from 100% recycled material to UNHCR, one of our long-term partners, to assist with their humanitarian response in Ukraine.

100% recycled blankets

Striving in alignment with the environmental goals of both UNHCR and Alpinter, the research initative to develop and produce recycled blankets started in 2022. The final blanket not only adheres to the organization’s standards in terms of design, comfort, and durability but also adheres to their commitment to sustainability.

Alpinter selected sustainable materials for both the blanket layers and the polyfillinner material. The weaving process utilized GRS-certified filament, while the polyfill itself is crafted from a blend of production offcut materials and PET materials, resulting in a 100% recycled blanket.

Sustainability efforts

This latest product development by Alpinter represents a significant step in our quest towards greater sustainability within the humanitarian field. Our commitment to sustainability goes beyond the product itself, as Alpinter remains dedicated to continually exploring innovative and sustainable humanitarian solutions.
