Beirut explosion

On the 4th of August 2020, two explosions occurred at the Port of Beirut, the capital of Lebanon. The explosion caused over 150 deaths and 6,000 people to be injured. Homes and buildings as far as 10 km away were heavily damaged and organisations estimate that 300,000 people lost their homes.

In the days following the explosion, Alpinter arranged emergency air freight of personal hygiene parcels in conjunction with Centre de Crise Francaise, and Family Tents in conjunction with SOS Attitude. Within a couple of days, SOS Attitude teams arrived in the region with RED tents, which are used in a range of versatile ways, from administration centers to medical posts.

Alpinter continues to support our partner organisations from our stocks in Belgium and UAE. At both locations, we currently have stock availability of plastic sheeting, shelter tool kits, family tents and hygiene kits.
