Highlight – SOS Attitude Response in Ukraine

Alpinter partner SOS Attitude was the first international NGO to respond on-site in Ukraine following the escalation of military activity in February 2022, providing humanitarian equipment to best support displaced individuals.

At Alpinter, we are deeply saddened to see the human cost of this conflict, but at the same time we feel very proud to contribute to the efforts of all the local and international organisations that are making enormous efforts to supply help and goods to the region. One of these organisations is SOS attitude, a long term partner of Alpinter, who have been active from the first days of the conflict in the affected areas in an extremely reactive and dynamic way.

Together with Protection Civile (one of their partner organisations), SOS Attitude set up a convoy with 38 tonnes of relief aid items including sleeping bags, solar lamps, medical equipment, tents, food, clothing and other relief items. The final destination of these relief aid items was the refugee camp in Palanca at the Moldovan border. Alpinter has supplied RED Tents, hygiene kits, field cots, sleeping bags and blankets from our stocks located in Belgium and Bulgaria.

For the time being, the camp in Palanca is mainly welcoming children and women. An unprecedented influx of refugees is still expected in the coming days and weeks. SOS Attitude is therefore enlarging the current refugee camp in Palanca and establishing two additional camps to cope with the large influx of Ukrainian refugees in the best possible way.
