Disaster Relief in Tonga Supported by Alpinter Products

Shelter Kits, Tool Kits and Sanitation Items from Alpinter deployed by Australian Aid
tonga-volcano-explosionThe explosion of the Hunga Tonga-Hunga Ha’apai volcano on the 14th of January sent shock waves around the world, but was most keenly felt in the Pacific Island nation of Tonga, which endured waves of up to 15 meters crashing into the main island, Tongatapu, and the ‘Eua and Ha’api islands in the aftermath of the explosion.
Australian Aid, in conjunction with their counterparts from New Zealand, were the first to arrive with desperately needed humanitarian aid once the airport runwaytonga-aid-flight in Tonga’s capital, Nuku’alofa, was cleared of volcanic ash and debris. Two C-17 Royal Australian Air Force planes were dispatched, loaded with shelters, tarpaulins, tool kits and water purification items supplied by Alpinter. Royal Australian Navy ships will soon be deployed with additional support items from Australian Aid and partner UN agencies from Brisbane in the coming days.
Alpinter is proud to support Governments and NGOs alike with purpose-designed humanitarian relief supplies, to assist vulnerable populations when the unexpected strikes.
